Election Results are in - clean sweep by Tories

4.53.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 2nd May 2008

The votes for the elections on Thursday May 1st have been counted and the result has been a loss of 2 councillors by Labour to the Conservatives.

There were 17 seats up for re-election and 1 by-election. One seat was uncontested. The Conservatives won all contested seats. This has meant that the Labour Councillors in Banbury Neithrop and Banbury Ruscote lost their seats.

Cherwell District Council now has 2 Labour, 4 Lib Dem and 44 Conservative Councillors.
